I developed a 11-meter-long wave generator water tank for the exhibition.
The core aesthetic intention was to recreate the natural movement of ocean waves, rather than constructing a purely scientific wave apparatus. The tank incorporates a long, angled surface that allows wave crests to form in a way similar to those found on a beach. This design also enables viewers to observe the side profile of the waves. The wave generator operates through a linear horizontal paddle system driven by a stepper motor (Cool Muscle), producing controlled and rhythmic wave motion. At the end of the tank, a waterfall mechanism collects the water, which is then recirculated back into the system using an air pump and monitored with height sensors.
